In my years of business, I have had many business mentors and I’ve mentored others. It’s a no-brainer when you’re setting up a small business to get some advice for where to start and how to grow. Having a different persons’ perspective can be both refreshing and confronting, but I believe, crucial to success.

- Expect to leave the meeting feeling like a problem shared is a problem halved. Your mentor will be able to offer a fresh perspective, inspiration and their years of experience to help problem solve.
- Be prepared to open up and share detailed information about the state of your business. This can feel confronting, but it’s crucial to getting the most out of your session.
- Expect to go home with some homework. To get the best out of your mentor, make sure you prioritize this.
